VANCOUVER – When Duane Chapman takes center stage Saturday at the Red Robinson Theatre for his one-man show, Dog the Bounty Hunter: Unleashed, expect the unexpected.
He’ll talk, of course, about being the son of an army welder dad and a Chirakawa missionary mom, and about his misspent youth, and his stint in prison for murder.
He’ll talk, too, about personal redemption and about rediscovering God, the message delivered in an unrehearsed performance that’s somewhere between Anthony Robbins and a preacher man.
Chapman says he’ll also have a secret or two to share about his 27 years as a bail bondsman rounding up bad guys.
The Dog, as he introduces himself, is on the phone Thursday from California explaining how he doesn’t really prepare for public appearances, and why he thinks he and his A&E reality show, Dog the Bounty Hunter, are such a hit with viewers.

I can’t imagine the stress of going from a normal person who is hardworking to a famouse hardworking person under a microscope. The chapman family obviously love what they do, but i’m not sure i could handle the stress. I’m glad they have been able to deal with it, because i love the show However, i see it has had an effect on their family life. Leland and Duane Lee have both gotten a divorce since the show started, Tim has had some legal issues i was reading this morning, and some of the kids that aren’t on the show are trying to gain some fame by being shady. I wish them the best of luck and i give them huge props for making it in such a crazy hard world.
